Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies 2012 Summer Internship Program

Washington University's Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies is now accepting applications for our 2012 Summer Internship Program.

This ten-week program will run from June 4th through August 9th and is open to local commercial and social ventures. The intern will work in his or her organization from Monday through Thursday, with an educational session hosted by the Skandalaris Center each Friday, including an afternoon panel discussion which is open to the public. This combination of work experience, collaboration with other students, and interaction with community entrepreneurs contributes to a rich learning experience for students and valuable connections for ventures. The goal of the program is two-fold: to give students an entrepreneurial experience and to help ventures meet milestones more quickly with the contribution of a Washington University intern.

I am including a brief FAQ that I hope will answer any questions you may have about completing the application, program cost and other details. Please keep the following in mind as you consider hosting a Skandalaris Center intern this summer. We have found that the best internships for both students and ventures are those that offer a high level of access to the founder or entrepreneur. We hope that the founder or entrepreneur will be available to attend one Friday event as a panelist as well as the closing lunch program on Friday August 10th. Both of these events are a valuable opportunity to share your entrepreneurial experience and connect with students and community members.

If you think this program would be a good fit for your organization, please complete and return the application promptly. Also plan to attend our Internship IdeaBounce® on February 10th, where you will give a one-minute pitch about your internship opportunity, meet pre-approved student applicants and begin connecting with potential interns. The last day to submit an application for guaranteed feedback before the Internship IdeaBounce® is February 3rd. Please see the timeline below for more details. Also feel free to forward this invitation to other entrepreneurial organizations that you feel may benefit from the program.

If you have any additional questions, please do contact me by phone at 314-935-6906 or by email at dunnezander@wustl.edu. Thank you and we look forward to reviewing your application!

Missouri IDEA Funds available as of Jan. 2, 2012

The Missouri Technology Corporation (MTC) has announced that the next round of available funding for early stage ventures, under the IDEA Funds program will begin January 2. Companies applying that are affiliated with ITEN should make that fact known in their application for a number of reasons, one of which is that the MTC has determined that affiliation with ITEN qualifies as an educational affiliation which is important to the application.

Also be advised that the aim of the IDEA Fund is to attract private investments, and companies should very clearly understand the parameters of the timing elements of the program to make sure their outside investments will qualify for matching IDEA funds. For more information and links to the applications, please see http://www.missouritechnology.com/commercialization-programs.
