Venture Café – St. Louis, part of the Venture Café Foundation based in Cambridge, MA, is looking for a full-time Events Manager who will join the dynamic Venture Cafe – STL team.

As part of the Venture Café – STL team, the Events Manager will be the primary point of contact and programming lead for events occurring in Cortex Commons and @4240. This individual will create original programming as well as manage the process for externally initiated and produced events that are in line with the mission of the Cortex Innovation Community. This is an exempt position and reports to the Executive Director of Venture Café – STL.
Work will be split between 85-90% for Cortex Commons events planning and 10-15% for @4240
Work within the Cortex Innovation Community, including @4240 and Cambridge Innovation Center St. Louis (CIC-STL) tenants, local community and the Washington University, St. Louis University and University of Missouri-St. Louis team to program and maintain mission-centric social and cultural programs, activities and amenities within Cortex Commons.
Serve as the primary point of contact for individuals, companies and organizations seeking to hold events within CIC and the Cortex Commons.
Work jointly with the Venture Café – STL and Cortex Innovation Community leadership to develop marketing/PR strategy to ensure strong event participation, community awareness and engagement.
Manage the event onboarding, vendor coordination and execution process.
Coordinate and maintain communication efforts for Cortex Commons to relevant internal and external audiences via social media, Internet promotion, program promotional materials, etc.
Lead all aspects of program strategy and implementation, including but not limited to planning, promotion, coordination and the recruitment of program volunteers.
Identify potential funding sponsors for programs and amenities.
Identify potential collaborative partnerships within the St. Louis community to assist in the activation of Cortex Commons.
Create and maintain an annual budget for programming and activation of Cortex Commons.
Track metrics (i.e. attendance, quality, value) and submit a quarterly report with surveyed feedback.
Identify and document, with leadership team, the Cortex Commons branding needs, security, property management, rules and guidelines and park usage by both tenants and outside entities. (Note: Cortex Commons maintenance and property management is handled by Cortex)
Support other Venture Café – STL events.
Successful marketing/events management experience involving multifaceted programming
Possess and demonstrate a strong customer-focused ethic
Demonstrated experience fundraising and sponsorship development
Experience preparing and managing a budget
Excellent communication and organization skills
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite/WordPress preferred
BA in related field
Salary and Benefits
Starting compensation is $42,000 to $50,000 per year plus 100% of the cost of a premium healthcare and dental package, long and short-term disability, life insurance, and two-weeks vacation from the start (more with seniority). About The Venture Cafe
The Venture Café began in 2010 in Cambridge, Massachusetts as a Thursday evening gathering for the innovation community at a CIC café on Thursday nights. The Venture Cafe Foundation became an independent non-profit organization in 2014 to focus on enhancing and accelerating the innovation process through spaces, programs and conversations for individuals and organizations to gather and build relationships. St. Louis is the first expansion site for Venture Cafe and on October 2014 opened the Venture Cafe Gathering doors at CIC@4240.
